HUMAN.KIND.
(A NEW LOOK AT HUMANITARIAN PHOTOGRAPHY THROUGH 10 EDITIONS OF THE PRIX PICTET)
Human.Kind. presents an alternative approach to photographing humanitarian action. The exhibition showcases the work of 30 of the 3,000 photographers from around the world who’ve been nominated for the Prix Pictet since it was first awarded in 2008. Their images depict key aspects of humanitarian action differently from anything we see in the news. What sets them apart? An unerring sense of compassion.

OCTAVIO PAZ in INDIA (A Photo-Poetry Installation)
To celebrate the birth centenary of Nobel Laureate and former Mexican Ambassador to India, Octavio Paz, Institute Cervantes in New Delhi and Embassy of Mexico in India launched a photo-poetry installation project to establish dialogues between photography and poetry by bringing together the works of Indian photographers and a Spanish or Latin American poet. As a part of the project, in July 2014 the Instituto Cervantes approached me, fellow photographer Adil Hasan and poet Sudeep Sen to do a free translation of poems by Octavio Paz, or being inspired by it to make a photo series. The poetries chosen for me were “THE BALCONY” and “THE MAUSOLEUM OF HUMAYUN”

A MOMENT IN TIME
A Moment in Time brings together a suite of exquisite and evocative images of Subrata Biswas, Prashant Godbole, Pallon Daruwala and Abhishek Dasgupta. For decades, these photo artists, through their art, have enticed and motivated the viewer to celebrate and contemplate the ever-changing moods and relationships between man, nature and the human condition. This show collates a set of significant and inspired bodies of work of each of these artists as they have captured vignettes of contemporary life, focusing on the essence and experience of a moment in time. Their images are consequently expressive and eloquent, lyrical and mystical, soulful and seductive. In grappling with and grasping astonishing moments often seen in the most familiar and unremarkable situations of daily life, the photographers have offered us glimpses of our external world. The images in the show which emanate out of a thoughtful study of man and nature throw light on our interior landscapes as well; they also provide openings to think about ourselves in a
deeper way.

Debuting this December at Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts, Sensorium gathers a constellation of international stars from the world of arts and literature to present fine work and original thought. In its inaugural edition Sensorium reflects on photography at its intersection with literature, cinema and music.
